Classic yacht sailing - Vieux Greement

Annonce référence n°32630, déposée le 02/02/2021 à 11h18

Halcyon of Eyemouth is a 32 ton Scottish built Inchape 45 motor-sailer. Commissioned in 1989 for a Mr Van Zeller of Lisbon, launched in 1990; Halcyon is a classic gaff-rigged ketch, heavy build MSY (Motor Sailing Yacht). Her builders, the Eyemouth Shipyard were well known for producing tough seaworthy boats both for commercial and pleasure purposes. Halcyon of Eyemouth is the last classic MSY built by this once famous yard. This vessel has undergone extensive re-fits in 2017 and 2020, has now left the Mainstay Marine Shipyard in the Milford Sound (South Wales UK), completed her sea trials and is set for charter coded during 2021.

From February 2021 onwards, Halcyon will have final preparations and Covid permitting, will set sail for the Mediterranean for sea trials and give the crew time to take on all aspects of operating this vessel.

The team size will be small (2 or 3 at the most). 2021 will be all about building comprehensive skills and confidence to go well beyond normal deckhand duties. Halcyon presents a real opportunity to take full responsibility and share in all the decision making for all passage making in 2021, as the covid situation improves. This is a learning opportunity for those candidates who want to gain future skipper/master qualifications.

The lifestyle on-board is informal. Camaraderie (friendship) with true open-mindedness is a priority, as building long-distance sailing miles is our goal as the global situation improves.

So if you're new to the industry and want to gain comprehensive seafaring experience rather than polish hull-sides and chrome, we look forward to hearing from you. A French national team member is already on board.
